The Clothesline Project Chicagoland & Suburbs is a non-profit organization servicing the Chicagoland & Suburban areas. This stunning visual display travels to hospitals, theaters, universities, conferences, military bases, and corporations "breaking the silence" of violence against women. The project promotes healing for survivors of violence, educates viewers about violence against women, and promotes pro-active ways to prevent violence.What Is The History Of The Clothesline Project? The original project began began in Massachusetts with 10 shirts.The Clothesline Project Chicagoland & Suburbs began in March of 1993 as an extension of Dr. Denise Fraser-Vaselakos' clinical practice with survivors of violence and now houses hundreds of shirts with new shirts arriving daily.Today there are about 250 Clothesline Project lines across the United States with The Clothesline Project Chicagoland & Suburbs being one of the largest and most active in the country.Who Can Send A Shirt? Any woman survivor or any friend or family member of a woman victim of violence can make or send in a shirt.Suggested color codes for the shirts are:
